Osun Police bolt as robbers invade commercial banks nearby

Police officers at a station in Osun bolted as daredevil armed robbers invade UBA and Access banks located nearby.

According to residents, an innocent young man was killed during the unfortunate event that happened at the popular poly junction. Meanwhile, the police station is located in between the commercial banks.

Shortly after the robbers had left the area, angry residents stormed the police station to protest their discountenance.

According to report, the gunmen before attacking the banks first invaded the police station to chase away the policemen.

A student of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, simply identified as Olaide, claimed that the attackers escaped through Ada/Iree road shooting into the air as they fled the area.

“Their operation lasted about 15 minutes and they escaped through Iree-Ada road passing through the campus gate. I heard two other persons were killed but I am not too sure about that”, he said.

A resident identified as Ibrahim Adekunle claimed the robbers successfully raided the bank but cannot ascertain if they made away with any cash from the banks.

When the armed robbers arrived, they first attacked the police station located between the two banks and the personnel on duty ran away, shot a constabulary on the head before heading to the banks to operate.

The bank entry doors, it was gathered were forced open and two gun-wielding robbers watched for any possible counterattack as others entered into the banking hall.

Another resident disclosed that a few minutes later the two men emerged from the bank and joined the two waiting outside to shoot sporadically into the air and zoomed off in two standby vehicles.

Osun State Police Command spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the report while stating that police have been deployed to the scene.
