The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says it has activated an “internal conflict resolution mechanism” to reconcile aggrieved members of the party.

NewsWireNGR had reported how seven deputy national officers of the party resigned on Tuesday in protest against what they called “poor leadership”.

The national officers had alleged that there is a lack of financial transparency in the party’s leadership.

They promised to remain loyal to the PDP, but said they will not be able to work with the current national working committee (NWC).

Speaking at a media briefing on Tuesday, Kola Ologbondiyan, national publicity secretary of the PDP, said an emergency meeting was immediately convened after the party received notice of the resignation of the national officers.

Ologbondiyan said the party acknowledges the concerns raised by the members that resigned, adding that immediate action will be taken to resolve the crisis.

“The party will look into their grievances raised by members of NEC as well as members of the national working committee (NWC),” he said.

“The internal conflict resolution mechanism of our party has also been immediately activated to put these issues behind us.

“We call on all the leaders, stakeholders and members of our great party to remain calm and we collectively resolve these issues.” he said.
