Nigeria’s Ese Brume has won Nigeria’s first medal at the Tokyo Olympic Games.

The Ughelli, Delta State-born long jumper’s leap of 6.97 metres was enough to clinch her the bronze medal, behind United States of America’s Brittany Reece (Silver) and Germany’s Malaika Mihambo who claims Gold.

The event which started as a two-horse race between Brume and former Olympic Champion, Reese, took a twist when current world champion, Mihambo, with her last jump, leapt 7.00 metres to take home the Gold.

In other events, Patience Okon George finished 7th in her heat and failed to progress to the semi-finals of the women 400-metre event, while Divine Oduduru ran a time of 20.36 S to get to the 200 Metres men’s final.
