Bandits release abducted Bethel Baptist School students in Kaduna

Abducted students from Bethel Baptist High School, Damishi, Kaduna have regained their freedom after spending 20 days in captivity. 

This was disclosed by Joseph Hayab, Kaduna state chairman of the Christian Association of Nigerian (CAN), to TheCable on Sunday. 

Recall that 121 students of Bethel Baptist secondary school in Chikun local government area of Kaduna state were abducted from their hotels by bandits on July 8. 

The bandits demanded the sum of 60 million as a ransom for the release of the kidnapped students.

NewsWireNGR had earlier reported how two of the students escaped from the bandits after they were sent to fetch firewood.

Narrating the students’ lucky escape, the ASP Mohammed Jalige, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, said, “at about 6pm, they were tasked by their captors to go and fetch firewood from the nearby forest where they were held hostage.

”They, however, decided to take the opportunity of not being monitored and escape to Rijana community along Kaduna–Abuja highway”.
