The Wife of a former LGA Chairman in Jigawa has been kidnapped

Gunmen on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 abducted the wife of  Ahmed Yahaya Marke, a former chairman of Kaugama Local Government Area in Jigawa State.

The armed group of about 10 persons,  on Wednesday at 1 a.m. WAT attacked the residence of the former local council chairman in Marke town and whisked away his first wife,   identified as Hajiya Fatima.

According to a Channels Television report, Aliyu Ahmad, one of the children of the victim, said the attackers came on motorcycles.

Aliyu disclosed that the terror group has made contact with the family members but no ransom has been demanded.

“Four of the gunmen entered our father’s home all armed, while six others were outside. They beat the women in the house and whisked away my mother on their motorcycle,” he said.

“They have called us but they are yet to tell us the amount we have to pay for them to release her. We have also reported the case to the Kaugama divisional police station.”

Lawan Shiisu, the police spokesperson in the state, also confirmed the incident. Shiisu said no other family members were attacked.

He also assured that the police were working together with vigilantes in the area and local hunters in the community to trace the attackers and subsequently rescue the victim.

“Although there is no progress yet, the police officers saw their footprints, that is what we are following to trace them,” he said.

The incident comes on the heels of the abduction of the Emir of Kajuru, Alhaji Alhassan Adamu and his family at his residence in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, also in the Northwestern part of the country.
