The Nigeria national men team were showered with a rain of four goals from Mexico national men team in an international friendly duel.

The game played at United Airlines Field at the Memorial Coliseum became a nightmare for the Super Eagles as early as two minutes into the game.

Mexico’s midfielder, Hector Herrera, opened the goal festival with an assist from J. Corona.

Striker Rogelio Funes Mori continued the reign with another goal assisted by H. Lozano, four minutes into the game.

Herrera again found the back of the net in the second half at 52 minutes, while Jonathan dos Santos capped the day with another goal at 78 minutes assisted by E. Gutierrez.

The Super Eagles, largely made up of players featuring in the Nigerian domestic league, were unable to retaliate. They only had four shots at goal with none of them on target. Mexico on the other hand aimed shots at the Super Eagles side 20 times with 11 of them on target.

The game was almost like an overkill as the Mexicans had eight corner-kicks while their opponents had only two.

They also dominated possession, with 63 percent to them and 37 percent to their opponents.

The game was used by the Mexicans to round off their preparations for the 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup Competition which begins July 10.

It was also part of Nigeria’s preparations for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
