Bandits attack leprosy training centre in Kaduna, abduct 7

The staff quatres of the National Tuberculosis and Leprosy Training Centre in Zaria, Kaduna state on Sunday was attacked by bandits.

According to reports, the bandits in their large number attacked the property around 12:30 am; and abducted 5 staff and two nursing mothers.

A police station was also reported to have been attacked by the gunmen in their bid to prevent any altercation during their operation.

A witness recalled; “The armed bandits came in large number around 12.30 am and cordoned the area to avoid any re-enforcement,” a source told journalists.

“The Saye Divisional Police headquarters was attacked with several gunshots. The division’s operational Hilux Van which received more than 10 bullets.”

“The attack on the Police Division was aimed at stopping them from rescuing the victims at the staff quarters. The bandits targeted the principal of the centre.

“His residence was badly damaged before they could have access but he was not there,” the source said.
