Vice President Osinbajo, Ibrahim Gambari to attend Emir Of Kano’s coronation

The Vice president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, and the Chief of Staff to the president, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, are among the dignitaries to attend the Coronation and Presentation of Staff of Office of the emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero.

The coronation, which is scheduled to hold at the Sani Abacha Stadium on Saturday, 3rd July, is expected to accommodate 16, 000 people.

Bayero, who is the 15th Emir of Kano, was appointed as emir on 9th March 2020 after the state governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, dethroned Muhammadu Sanusi ll.

Addressing newsmen on the forthcoming events, the Dan-Daka of Kano and a member of the Kano Emirate Council, Abbas Dalhatu, said the ceremony would receive heavy security attention to ensure a hitch-free event.

He said 4000 security personnel comprising the Police, the DSS, Military, Civil Defence and others are to cover the programs.

According to him, out of the 16, 000 people that are expected to attend, 13,000 are going to be at the normal seats while the rest would be reserved for dignitaries.

Dalhatu explained that the late Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero, was crowned 53 years ago at the Sani Abacha Stadium and his Son would also be crowned at the same place.

“We are going to have scores of guests from the Vice President, Chief of Staff to the President, Emirs, Obas and so many others, and we have perfected a true sound event,” he said.

He explained that shortly after the coronation, members of the Kano traditional institution would go round the Stadium in a Durba after which the Emir with his entourage would do their Durba at the place.

“On Monday, the Emir will go round Kano on his horse to greet his subjects and the movements will begin from the Emirs Palace to Fagge, Government, Sabon Gari back to the palace through the City Center,” he added.
