‘I begged Princess to drop Baba Ijesha’s case and she refused’ – Iya Rainbow

Veteran Actress, Idowu Phillips also known as ‘Iya Rainbow’ says she begged Comedienne Princess for four days to drop the case of Baba Ijesha but she didn’t.

Baba Ijesha was arrested and detained by the Lagos police after he was alleged to have sexually molested a 14-year-old girl who lives with Princess.

The 48-year-old was arraigned before the court on Thursday on a six-count charge which include sexual assault by penetration, indecent treatment of a child and sexual assault.

Others are indecent treatment of a child, sexual assault and attempted sexual assault by penetration. He was eventually granted bail last week.

The Yoruba movie industry had been rocked by the case with several actors condemning Baba Ijesha’s actions and their colleagues who had supported him on social media.

Speaking to BBC Yoruba, Iya Rainbow said she did all she could, to implore Princess that she should not allow the case to boomerang but she did not agree with her.

According to her, she said Baba Ijesha has been released now but things have to be resolved amicably among the theatre practitioners.

She also stated that either Baba Ijesha is guilty or not, their group must rise up and settle things amicably
