Niger State Government sacks 374 workers, forcefully retire 380 more

374 civil servants with the Niger State Government have been sacked while another 380 were forcefully retired.

The chairman of the state civil service commission, Alhaji Sheu Yusuf Galadima, made the announcement at a press conference in Minna on Tuesday.

He said the dismissed workers are also accused of fraudulent acts of alteration of date of birth and first appointment.

“It is on record that the Commission is committed to ensuring a disciplined workforce, well position for efficient and effective service delivery.

“To this end, 46 personnel discovered to have violated the extant rules were summarily dismissed after thorough investigation and interviewed with the affected personnel.

“Among them is a medical doctor, 31 pension board staff, five accountants, two health workers and four ICT personnel.

Also, 380 civil servants were forcefully retired due to their involvement in fraudulent acts of alteration of date of birth or first appointment,” he said.

He further disclosed not less than 328 personnel were also dismissed from service after the Commission undertook a forensic examination of all certificates pledged by personnel during their interview for their respective jobs, adding that the institutions they purported to have attended declared their claims as “forgeries”. He said.
