Former president Jacob Zuma found guilty of contempt of court and has been sentenced to 15 months imprisonment.
The Constitutional Court’s long-awaited judgment on former president Jacob Zuma’s defiance of two summons the Zondo commission – Constitutional Court sentences ex-President Jacob Zuma to 15 months in prison, Deputy Chief Justice Sisi Khampepe says in a ruling in Johannesburg on Tuesday.
Zuma was convicted of contempt of court after defying an order to testify before a judicial panel investigating corruption during his nine-year rule.
Zuma had repeatedly refused to testify at the State Capture Inquiry. The judgment is a culmination of a court battle between Zuma and the Zondo commission which is probing allegations of state capture during his nine-year presidency and the judiciary.
