5 dead, 1 injured as bandits invade farm in Kaduna

Five persons have been confirmed dead while one other was injured as bandits attacked Goska community in Jema’a local government area of Kaduna State, the Kaduna State Government says.

According to the report from the government, the notorious bandits invaded the community to kill four residents, and two other persons on their farm.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan said, the two farmers, “Wakili Kon and Yusuf Joshua were attacked and killed on their farms by the assailants.

“One woman, Laraba Silas, sustained gunshot injuries and was rushed to hospital.

“Governor Nasir El-Rufai expressed sadness at the reports, and prayed for the repose of the souls of the residents who were brutally killed by the bandits. The Governor sent his condolences to their families, and wished the injured citizen a quick recovery.

“Security patrols are ongoing in the general area, alongside investigations into the attack.”

Kaduna State is one of the state in the northern region that has suffered attacks by notorious bandits. The bandits have carried out a series of kidnappings and killings of innocent residents of the state.

Earlier in April, the bandits fast becoming terrorists stormed the Federal College of Forestry Mechanization in Mando, Kaduna state, around 9:30 p.m. (2030 GMT) shooting indiscriminately before taking students.

The Kaduna college was said to have some 300 male and female students, mostly aged 17 and older, at the time of the attack.

Also, a security report presented by the Kaduna State Government revealed that a total of three hundred and twenty-three deaths linked to banditry and other violent attacks have been recorded in Kaduna state between January and March, 2021. They kidnapped nine hundred and forty-nine others within that same period.
