The governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, has suspended his aide, Abidemi Rufai, who was arrested in the United States for an alleged $350,000 COVID-19 unemployment fraud.

According to the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary Kunle Somorin, the governor took the action immediately he was briefed about Mr Rufai’s arrest.

“Our position is that the law should take its course. “Meanwhile, the governor has ordered his immediate suspension from office to answer charges against him.” Somorin said to Premium Times.

Abidemi Rufai reportedly stole the identities of over 100 people in Washington state to funnel unemployment benefits into his own bank account from the Washington state’s Employment Security Department.
