Nigerian Military frees 10 people kidnapped by bandits

10 people kidnapped by bandits have regained their freedom after military officers of Operation Hadarin Daji, Yenyewa Village in Zamfara engaged the bandits in crossfire.

The Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. John Enenche, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.

Enenche said that the military received a distress call regarding bandits activities on December 20 and proceeded to defend the citizens.

He said the troops engaged the bandit with superior firepower and were able to kill one of th bandits, while others fled with various degrees of gunshot wounds.

“The rescued kidnapped victims have been reunited with their families,” he said.

“Troops swiftly mobilised to the identified location where they had contact and engaged the criminals in firefight.

“During the encounter, troops overwhelmed the bandits and killed one of them, while others flee with various degrees of gunshot wounds.

“Troops recovered an AK-47 rifle and a magazine loaded with 4 rounds of 7.62mm Special Ammunition from the criminal elements.”

Emenche also revealed that the troops got intelligence and raided a bandit’s camp in Abako Village, a part of Katsina-Ala Local Government Area. He said that troops arrested and handed over two bandits to appropriate prosecuting agency for further action during the encounter.
