President Muhammadu Buhari is in a closed door meeting with governors at the Aso rock villa.
The meeting is coming off the recent gruesome massacre of at least 43 rice farmers by Boko Haram in Zabarmari, Borno State and increasing insecurity that has plagued the country in recent times.
Ekiti State governor, Kayode Fayemi and Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, had earlier mentioned the planned security meeting.
Also on Thursday, the President will honour an invitation by the national assembly over insecurity of the country.
The House invited him in the aftermath of the Zabarmari massacre and growing concerns on insecurity.
