Police deny reports of salary increases, disclaim N1.5million for CP

The Nigerian Police has debunked claims that Commissioners of Police (CPs) earn N1.5 million among other jumbo salaries of officers’ in the various hierachy.

The reaction is a sequel to a viral post from an unknown source showing the salary structure of the force starting from the police constable (PC II) to the commissioner of police.

According to the post, the police constable (PC II) earns the sum of N84,000 while the PC (I) earns N86,000. The post said a sergeant major earns N119,000.

The post claimed that the Inspector of Police (I) earns N254,000; Assistant Superintendent of police earns (I) N296,000; Superintendent of police earns N342,000 while the Chief SP earns N419,000.

The Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) was alleged to earn N483,000, and the Deputy CP earns N531,000 among other fat salaries of other levels stated in the image post.

In a tweet on Monday, the force had flagged the report as false, calling on Nigerians to debunk the information.

NewsWireNGR recalls that President Buhari in his address to the nation over the violence that erupted in the country after the #EndSARS protests, said his administration has come up with a new salary structure for police and teachers.

“With regard to the welfare of the police personnel, the national salaries, income and wages commission has been directed to  expedite actions on the new salary structure for the police force, the enrollment of other paramilitary services are also being reviewed upwards.” He said
