The Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) has deployed and sworn-in Dr. Alalibo Johnson as the new Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Cross River State.

Performing the ceremony at the INEC Headquarters, Abuja, Chairman of the Commission, Prof. Mamood Yakubu
said the occasion was a new dawn in the commission as the RECs will be in charge of the implementation of the commission’s reforms.

Alalibo Johnson who is from Bayelsa State was sworn-in alongside Umar Mukhtar Gajiram from Borno State who is to take charge at Taraba after.

Their appointments as RECs were as a result of the vacancies that exist in two states of the federation.

Dr. Johnson takes over from Dr. Frankland Briyai the immediate past REC for Cross River State who resigned to contest as governor in last year’s Bayelsa State guber election.
