Widespread Violence: IPOB Tension Hits Jos, Residents, Traders Scamper for Safety

DailyTimes Newspaper is reporting that residents and traders in Jos metropolis scampered for safety on Thursday at about 5:15pm.

The panic started at Katako market situated in Jos north. The Special Task Force STF Media Officer Captain Umar Adams said the panic was ignited by rumor mongers who are bent on putting fear in people.

He said the STF is fully deployed to the affected area and normalcy will soon return. Although the reason for the panic is yet unknown as at the time of filing this report but sources say it is connected to the current face off between soldiers and the Independent People of Biafra (IPOB) in Aba, Abia State.

Approaching one of the traders, running for safety he said, “security operatives just came and ask us to close our shops, before I knew what was happening, people began to park their goods and lucking their shops.

It was observed that four major markets in Jos metropolis were already deserted at press time.
