Many Killed In Shi’ites/Security Agents Clash (Warning)

Many people are feared to have been killed in a clash between the Shi’ites and security agents in Funtua town of Katsina state.

Reports said that trouble started when the members of the sect embarked on Ashura procession marked by Shi’ites worldwide.

The Katsina and Kano state police command had recently warned religious groups against ‘illegal processions’ in the states warning that they would not tolerate them.

Another Northwestern state, Kaduna, had last week proscribed a Shi’ite group, The Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) led by Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky.

Sheikh Zakzaky was arrested by authorities following a clash his followers had with security agents after the blocked the highway Nigerian Chief of Armr staff was to use in Zaria, kaduna state.
