The Minister of Sports, Solomon Dalung has said that politicians, being very ambitious in nature, may have began subtle moves ahead of 2019 which is in part, responsible for the current crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Dalung further posited that because of the economic constraints the present administration found itself, it was also capable of stirring up bitterness in the party.

The Minister said this while answering questions from journalists at the APC national secretariat yesterday, just as he described the joining of a PDP Senator and former Governor from Plateau State, Joshua Dariye as an “endorsement” of sorts to the APC.

He said “a politician is a very ambitious person in everything he does including his steps of movement. He calculates ahead of time. It could also be that, some politicians had viewed the future and they are already dusting their weapons for a political showdown to set the tune of their political ambition.”

He further said “Now, the management of that interest is very critical, but the challenge the party is facing is that the government itself inherited a situation where it has more challenges of fixing the country and so nothing or no good attention at all would have trickled down along the line in view of the economic constraints government find itself that is enough to reinvigorate bitterness in the party and can give birth to crisis.”

While welcoming Senator Dariye to APC, he said “It is a confirmation that one, the party is a political party that has something to offer; two, that he now believes that the hope of the future lies in the political party that he has changed to, and three, he would have also taken that decision damning any consequences to come to our party because he believes that it is where he can contribute to national development.”
