Newman Street Drama Series Returns To TV Screens

The television drama series – Newman Street is set to make a come back on screens across the country. Newman Street is an edgy TV drama focusing on young, vibrant Nigerians with huge dreams to overcome the harsh realities of life. It is packaged with several lessons on the best ways to live a healthy and meaningful live.The messaging is intended to help raise awareness on the realities of malaria and encourage the use of modern family planning methods.

Newman Street features well-known faces in Nollywood and tells the story of everyday Nigerians, working hard to sustain their livelihoods, amidst different challenges. The TV series will show on all NTA stations nationwide every Friday at 8:30pm. The two season drama series will also air on Iroko TV, NTA StarTimes, some state television stations across the federation and selected online platforms from April 2016.

Newman Street, an innovative TV drama series is creatively scripted and acted to mirror‘Life as it is’.
It creatively tells the Nigerian story, while passing across best practices on how everyday Nigerians can address key health concerns facing them.

This rich content features characters like Andy, a handsome barber and aspiring afro-hiphop artist fighting an uphill battle to fame. Though in love with the very beautiful Funke, he finds himself in a dilemma when sexy Caroline lures him with promises of helping him get his big break.
Another very interesting character is Mama Ejiro; a seamstress with dreams of becoming a fashion entrepreneur. She aspires for additional training to enhance her chances of success.
You will also spend some time with the Atta family who seem to have made it, but we find out that life behind the walls may not be as wonderful as it seems.

According to the Executive Producer of Newman Street, Mrs Babafunke Fagbemi, ‘NewmanStreet will provide the right information Nigerians need in order to make the best life decisions for themselves and their families as they deal with everyday issues’.

Newman Street is a product of Nollywood Concept Promotions (NCP) and Center for Communication Programs in Nigeria (CCPN) with support from United States Agency for International Development (USAID/PMI), United Nation’s Population Fund (UNFPA), the Johns Hopkins Centre for Communication Programs(JHCCP)and UK Department for International Development (UKaid).
