For Those Saying Alamieyeseigha Demise Is A Hoax, He Will Be Buried Saturday April 9

The first elected civilian Governor of Bayelsa State, Chief Deipreye Solomon Alamieyeseigha will finally be buried on Saturday, April 9, in his Amassoma country home, Bayelsa State.

Alamieyeseigha, the Governor General of Ijaw Nation, died at age 62, on October 10, 2015, at the University of Port-Harcourt Teaching Hospital, Rivers State, following a brief illness.

Announcing the burial arrangement, the Chairman, Central Burial Committee and Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah (Retd), stated that “there will be a Youth/Student Activities in Yenagoa the Bayelsa state capital; public lecture on Federalism and Development in Nigeria, by Prof. G.G Darah at the Banquet Hall, Yenagoa; Night of Songs and Tributes at the Gabriel Okara Cultural Centre, Yenagoa. “On Friday, April 8, there will be a Valedictory State Executive Council Session, at the Banquet Hall, Yenagoa and Wake-keep at his country home in Amassoma.”

Jonah said there will be a Commendation Service on Saturday, April 9, to be followed by his internment in Amassoma, his country home.

The Deputy Governor added that the burial ceremony will be concluded with a Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, April 10, at St. Peters Anglican Church, Yenagoa.
