At The Social Media Week, TechHer Debuts Training For Women In Technology

In its bid to improve learning for women in the technology world, TechHer, a community of women who are passionate about technology has designed two events to mark the Social Media Week Lagos on the 26th of February.

In a press statement released by the organizers, one of the events which is aimed at discussing challenges, experiences, and retention of women in technology will hold at the Hangout Suite, Landmark Centre from 12.30m.

Founder, TechHer, Chioma Agwuegbo, said that beyond the moaning about how there are few/no women rising to the top of the technology ladder, it is important to also explore how many women stay rooted in their jobs, and how job policies create a level-playing field (or not) for them.”

The panel is drawn from techpreneurs, human resource personnel, and women working within technology, including Betty Enyonam Kumahor, Founder of Cobalt Partners, Niyi Abiri, Co-creator at cMapIT, Nkoyo Efretei, HR Manager, and Iyinoluwa Aboyeji, co-founder of Andela.

The Vice-President of Talentbase, Chika Uwazie, will moderate the conversation. Participants can register for free here Similarly, the second event, Lagos’ first Social Media Surgery is held in conjunction with Andela at their Amity Address: 2/4 Funsho Street, off Alara. Sabo, Yaba, Lagos.

The practical learning session which starts by 4pm will impart attendees with Digital Marketing and Enterprise Development skills led by industry experts Tobi Ayeni (Miss Techy Blog) and Joy Ihotu Amuta (Scratchboard).

The climax of the evening event will be free web design, development, and management services provided by volunteers drawn from Andela and TechHer.
