Senator Shehu Sani To Sue APC As Party Moves To Suspend Him Over Rift With Governor El-rufai

Senator Shehu Sani, the Kaduna Central representative at the National Assembly has threatened to slam a law suit on his own party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).

This follows the party’s invitation to Senator Shehu Sani inviting him to appear within seven days before a disciplinary committee set up by acting or risk disciplinary action including suspension from the party. Senator Shehu Sani has been asked to clear himself over what the party termed “Anti Party Stand” of the Senator and the rift between him and Kaduna Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai .

Senator Shehu Sani who did not take lightly the summon has threatened to take legal action against the party if the letter was not withdrawn.

“If in the next one week, the party excos in the state fail to withdraw a letter sent to him on the allegation that he was involved in anti party activities, he will take a legal action against the party”

”This is our stand. We will not honour an invitation by kangaroo executives in the state. APC executives are not in existence in the state. We are, therefore, urging them to withdraw the letter sent to us within a week or we will take legal action against them.”

Senator Sani maintained that the party is doing the bid of the Kaduna State Governor and he has not regard for the puppet leadership of the party in the state: “Senator Shehu Sani will not honour their invitation because he doesn’t recognize them as state executives of the party. They are only claiming to be APC members but we know they are only doing a bid for the state governor.”

Senator Shehu Sani who was represented by his senior legislative aide and his campaign director general, Rabiu Khaleed at a news briefing on Wednesday also accused the party of sidelining the Senator in state party affairs.

“Since our election, no party executive in the state deemed it fit to write to Senator Sani to inform him of any party activities despite being a party stakeholder. Therefore, he will not honour any invitation from anybody because there are no recognized party leaders in the state,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, APC Kaduna Chapter, appears to have concluded plans to suspend the Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani from the party over the unresolved rift between him and Kaduna Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai .

The party had Wednesday sent a letter to Senator Shehu Sani inviting him to appear within seven days before a disciplinary committee set up by acting Chairman, Shuaibu Idris to clear himself over what the party termed “Anti Party Stand” of the senator.

Speaking at a conference Tuesday, Kaduna APC Spokesman, Salisu Tanko Wusono expressed displeasure that the Senator refused to accept the letter.
He urged Senator Sani to appear before the committee within the stipulated seven days or face the wrath of the party.

Sani’s senior assistant, Political and Ideology, Comrade Suleiman Ahmed said the letter was rejected on grounds that the senator neither knows the person who signed the letter nor party office address.

“If the address of the party office in Kaduna he knew has been changed, Senator Shehu Sani was supposed to be informed, in the same vein if the acting chairman was appointed, he should have been notified,” Ahmed said.

Sani maintained that because he was not notified about the APC new state chairman and secretary, he would not respond to their invitation. He also believed the two officers are mere extensions of government house and accused El-Rufai of sponsoring them to suspend him out of fear of his overwhelming popularity and performance .

“From now till 2019, Senator Shehu Sani will continue to challenge any El-Rufai policy suspected or adjudged to be anti masses,” Suleiman Ahmed said.
When contacted via phone to speak on the matter, Senator Shehu, who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Foreign and local debts, said his invitation was just a cooked plan to smear his good name.

“It is obvious that some persons within corridors of power have hands in this purported invitation,” Sani maintained.
