The son of the Osun State Governo, Rauf Aregbesola, Kabiru is alleged to have been arrested for Money Laundering in Lagos at the Murtala Muhammaed International airport yesterday, enroute UAE with over N178million .

Eyewitness accounts say there was pandemonium over the arrest of the man known as Kabiru, later identified as the son of the Osun State Governor over a huge sum of money found in his possession by Nigerian security agencies.

The government of Osun which currently owes workers more than six months salary, has denied reports alleging that Kabir Aregbesola, a son of the state governor Rauf Aregbesola, was arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos today Tuesday May 12, 2015, with a huge sum of money in foreign currencies.

According to a statement by Semiu Okanlawon, the director of bureau of communications, there is no truth in the reports.

“We have discovered the the authors of the wicked and malicious lie are doggedly pursuing their agenda by engaging in an aggressive push for the falsehood to reach a larger population especially using the social media.

“The younger Aregbesola neither traveled anywhere nor had any encounter with any security personnel today. It is obvious the evil minds at work are out to drag an innocent young man’s name into this dirt in order to get at his father,” the statement said.

Okanlawon said that the governor has maintained a life of a “moderate family man with a set of highly disciplined children who cannot be found wanting on issues of morals and societal values.”

The statement advised members of the public to dismiss the falsehood “because it is just another handiwork of mischievous minds.”

Kabiru the son of governor Aregbesola is an influential member of the government, said to have single handedly managed the contract for the the  failed Opon-Imo gadgets for school students.

Some residents who reacted about the reportedly arrests said, “It is possible Kabiru was caught, he is one of the most powerful person in this state, he is in-charge of most of the contracts and he has failed to pay the contractors”, Kolawole Adigun.

“I won’t be surprise if he had such an amount of money in his possession” Adigun added.
