The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC), has accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, of conniving with INEC to distribute unclaimed PVCs; for use in Saturday’s governorship election.

Ogun State APC chieftain, Bode Mustapha, said, “We want to alert the public that PDP leaders have compromised some operatives of INEC. (PDP) now have in their possession some of the Permanent Voters Card which ought to have been distributed to people.

Ogun State has 20 Local governments with number of 1.8 million voters, registered for the 2015 elections. The percentage of PVC distribution in the state, stood at 61.5% before the deadline for distribution, elapsed.

At a press conference in Abeokuta, Mr. Mustapha; the Director General of Ibikunle Amosun Campaign Organisation, accused the state PDP chapter of compromising some INEC officials to procure the cards.

“Our query is that how did PDP leaders get thousands of PVCs which they now want to use on Saturday to corrupt the voting process and manipulate the results sheets.”

He further, alleged that the opposition party in the state (PDP) had mobilised thugs to disrupt weekend’s elections across the state.

Mr.. Mustapha stated that the PDP, having realised it could not win the governorship and House of Assembly elections on Saturday, has resigned to a sinister plot in which they would cause mayhem aimed at preventing the electorate from voting; disrupting the voting and counting process.

He added that, the PDP plans to create an atmosphere of chaos that would compel the electoral body to cancel the votes across the state; a ploy it used in the Ogun Central Senatorial District elections.

Mr. Mustapha said the organisation had reported the allegation to the security agencies.

In an almost instant reaction, the Ogun state arm of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) countered the allegations, and instead stated that the governor, Ibikunle Amosun, and APC have purchased many of the uncollected cards.

“It has come to our notice that the Governor of Ogun state Senator Ibikunle Amosun has purchased many of the uncollected PVCs for underhand use of the APC,” the PDP said.

The party added that, “While, Ogun INEC said about 400,000 cards remained uncollected, many of these cards are now in the possession of Amosun.”

“This plot, according to what we learnt, is the first in the lineup of a system which the APC wants to deploy in rigging the gubernatorial and House of Assembly polls on Saturday.”

Also, the PDP poked at the APC, for allegedly recruiting thugs and cultists and fortifying them with different firearms to unleash terror, during the April 11th Gubernatorial and House if Assembly elections in the state.

The Ogun State INEC office is yet to address the allegations from both parties.
