#NigeriaDecides INEC To Resume Announcement Of Election Results In A Few Minutes, Having Released Results In 9 States

Before it resumes in a few minutes from recess where the results of 18 states are expected, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had earlier, began releasing official results from the Presidential elections conducted across the country, over the weekend.

In a live broadcast of the results from the Interational Conference Centre; the national collation center for INEC; the votes cast in eight states in the presidential election were released. Also released is the result of the Federal Capital Territory.

At the moment, Professor Attahiru Jega has declared a break to allow other Returning Officers get to the INEC headquarters.

Listed below is the result so far released by the INEC headquarters just before the chairman of INEC:

Ogun state’s total registered voters were 1709409 while the number of accredited voters was 594,975. The total result showed that APC scored 308,290 while PDP scored 207,950.

Areas of Ogun where elections did not hold include Imeko Afon, and Abeokuta North.

In Ekiti, PDP scored 176,466 votes to win against APC’s  120,331.

From the Coal City, Enugu, PDP scored a landslide with 553,003 against APC’s 14,157.

In Kogi, APC scored 264,851 while PDP scored 149,987.

For Osun state, APC garnered 383,603 while PDP scored 249,929. In the state, elections were cancelled in areas including Irepodun,Ife South,Ife East,Iwo,Orolu,Irewole,Boluwaduro, and Atakumosa.

Results from Ondo State, APC won by 299,889 against PDP’s 251,368.

Registered voters in the state were 1,501,549 while accredited voters were 618,040 according to Prof. Olusola Oyewole, the Returning Officer for the state.

At the Federal Capital Territory with 344, 056 accredited voters, APC got 146, 399 while the PDP scored 157, 195 meaning that the PDP won the presidential election in Nigeria’s capital.

In Oyo State, the Returning Officer, Professor Ayobami Salami, announced that the APC won with 528,620 against PDP’s 303,376.

In Nasawara, APC lost to PDP after polling 236,838 against PDP’s 273,460.

From the results in the 9 states above; PDP’s Goodluck Jonathan leads by 2, 322, 734 votes in a slight margin over 2, 302, 978 scored by APC’s Gen. Muhammadu Buhari.

As it stands, Jonathan has taken the lead in 4 states, one behind the 5, where Gen. Muhammadu Buhari has won.
