Mbu Detains Reporter For Calling Him Controversial, NUJ Asks For His Immediate Release

Former Rivers state commissioner of police and Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 7, Abuja, Mr. Joseph Mbu, has arrested Mr. Amaechi Anakwue the presenter of Matters Arising, an Africa Independent
Television (AIT) program, for
describing him as controversial.
Anakwue was said to have described the former Rivers State Commissioner of Police
(CP) as controversial in one of his presentations earlier this week, but this did not go down well with the officer.
Anakwue, who was said to have been invited early thursday by Mbu for questioning, was immediately arrested and detained after he was harassed by the police.
The National Union of Journalists (NUJ), AIT chapter and the management of the television station had called for the immediate and
unconditional release of Anakwue.
