The recent news reports about possible marital problems between Nigerian singer, Tiwa savage and her hubby, Tunji ‘TeeBillz’ Balogun may be true after-all. The couple who got married in far away Dubai in April 2014 after a traditional marriage in November, 2013 have been known for their public display of affection on and off social media.
Rumours of possible issues in the marriage of the power couple first emanated few weeks ago when Tiwa Savage performed at the wedding of Senator Ita Giwa’s daughter and the birthday of media mogulette, Mo’ Abudu without the company of her husband/manager, Teebillz to both events. The last time the couple were seen together in public was at the Nigerian Entertainment Awards in New York which took place about a month ago. In recent weeks, there has also been a drought of the lovely messages and pictures the couple would usually put up of each other on Instagram.
The rumors gained more credence recently; the 26th of September was TeeBillz’ birthday and fans hung around the Instagram and Twitter accounts of the couple hoping that they would put the breakup rumors at rest but were further disappointed when Tiwa Savage did not wish her hubby a happy birthday as they would usually do. It was in the evening after fans had flooded her mentions asking her to give her husband a birthday shout-out that the singer shared a photo of him with no accompanying message but just three love smileys. Meanwhile, Tunji Teebillz wished himself a happy birthday on Instagram with no reference to his wife which was uncommon. He wrote:
“Thank you, God, for giving me another year of life. Thank you for all the people who remembered me today Thank you for all the experience of this past year; For times of success which will always be happy memories, For times of failure which reminded me of my own weakness and of my need for you, For times of joy when the sun was shining, For times of sadness which drove me to you. According to a report on YNaija, an insider who spoke to them claims the couple no longer live together. The source also revealed Teebillz domestically abuses Tiwa as he sometimes beats her:
“Tiwa Savage and Tunji Balogun are indeed having issues and family members are trying to talk them into not separating. The truth is Tunji hits Tiwa sometimes. He’s been hitting her even before they got married but she went ahead to marry him.
“We all know he gets angry at slightest provocation. She probably married him out of fear, or out of pity for helping her to attain the status she has reached today. That was what happened to his first relationship too.”
Another source also revealed to YNaija that weeks back, Tiwa confronted her hubby after he cheated on her and she nearly left the house but for the intervention of relatives:
“He cheats on her…the last act weeks ago, got her angry, and after confronting him, she was ready to leave the house but she has been pacified by relatives to hang on and not leave”
It is common knowledge that TeeBillz was very influential in Tiwa becoming the star that she is today and has practically managed her career all these while. He even signed her on to his 323 entertainment outfit before the partnership with Mavin Records.
