Calls For Jega’s Removal Unjustified – AYF

The Arewa Youth Forum has criticized the Southern Nigeria People’s Assembly for its call for the sack of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Prof Attahiru Jega. It will be recalled that the leadership of the Assembly had called for the head of Jega for what they described as new polling units created to favour the North.

But  Mohammed Sani of the AYF said  “How can the very Prof. Jega who oversee an election which gave victory to president Goodluck Jonathan, a southerner against a northerner now be suspected of having a hidden northern agenda?”

He said he was not particularly fond of Jega but that he disagrees with his sack on the basis raised by the Southern Assembly.

“I don’t for a moment care for Jega and I have never accepted his performance in INEC, but this just shows people like Jega that people in the South-South and in the South-East have no sense of gratitude, they have no sense of propriety, they have no sense of decency and in their own calculations; they believe everybody outside their tribal enclave is a tool to be used and dumped.”
