NANS Endorses President Jonathan For 2015 Re-election

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has passed a vote confidence on President Goodluck Jonathan asking him to declare for a re-election in the 2015 elections. The Student body also promised to vote massively for the President in the said election citing his unprecedented performance and his assiduous efforts to rebuild the economy of Nigeria.

The Association during a courtesy visit to the First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan at the Presidential Villa, Abuja Thursday, described President Jonathan as a pragmatic and visionary leader who should be applauded for his infrastructural and social transformation of Nigeria.

Led by its National President, Yinka Gbadebo, the delegation comprising National, Zonal and States officers of the Association, the umbrella body of the Nigerian students informed the First Lady that an advocacy group known as “Nigerian students Transformation Vanguard has been floated to champion the cause which they so much believed in.

Comrade Gbadebo pledged the total support of Nigerian students to the administration of Dr Goodluck Jonathan. In his words “We are unflinchingly determined to put all political detractors and evil geniuses to shame in 2015 by giving Mr. President the singular and total support of all Nigerian Students as one united vote”.

The NANS President said no Nigerian leader has ever impacted positively on the Nigerian students the way President Jonathan has done in the past few years.

He also commended the First Lady for her various contributions and commitment towards national development, through various peace initiatives as well as youth and women empowerment.

According to him, their desire to meet with the First Lady is premised on her unwavering love and passion for the Nigerian Students and her commendable peace efforts not only in Nigeria but in Africa as a whole.

“You are the gift of peace sent to counter the wicked forces of violence and terrorism being foisted on Nigeria and Nigerian Students remain supportive of you in this arduous task as we overcome the evil machinators”.

The First Lady asked the students to continue to promote the virtues of peace in the country, by consistent constructive engagement on national issues.

Dame Patience Jonathan commended the leadership of NANS for their contribution towards the success of the National Youth Peace Concert, which she hosted earlier in the year.

The First Lady urged the students “to be patriotic and not allow themselves to be willing tools in the hands of those bent of sowing seeds of discord among our people”.

Dame Jonathan also thanked the students for their decision to float the “Nigerian Students Transformation Vanguard”, to give support to Transformation Agenda of Dr Goodluck Jonathan for a better Nigeria.

A letter of Credence was presented to the First lady for her tireless and sincere peace advocacy while NANS also announced its intention to confer on President Goodluck Jonathan an award of “Grand Commander of Nigerian Students” at a later date.
