Alonso Joins Bayern Munich

Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso announced his retirement from international football on Wednesday and has now joined German side, Bayern Munich for a fee believed to be in the region of €10 million.

The 32-year old signed for Real Madrid from Liverpool in 2009 for an undisclosed fee. Alonso lost his shirt in the Spanish side after Real bought the likes of James Rodriguez and Toni Kroos this summer.

This prompted him to hand in a transfer request which has now seen him move to the Allianz Arena where he will bolster Pep Guardiola’s midfield options.
