For the fourth time, former military Head of State, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari is expected to declare for the Presidential race. Having contested in the 2003, 2007, and 2011 Presidential elections, Buhari is not new to the game.

For the next Presidential elections which is slated for February 2015, one of Buhari’s aides who spoke in Abuja yesterday but pleaded anonymity has confirmed that the former military Head of State will declare his intention in a few days time after he has concluded his nationwide consultations.

“General Muhammadu Buhari has been holding consultations with stakeholders cutting across the divide on the next year general election. Those he has been meeting include politicians, both within and outside the APC, religious leaders, opinion leaders, youths and market women in every state of the federation and the feelers we are getting are encouraging.

“We are rounding off with the consultations and within the next few days, General Buhari would publicly declare for the race and it is our hope that he would not only emerge the presidential candidate of APC but would eventually be elected come February 2015,” the aide said.

The aide strongly believes Buhari has no competition in the APC and will become President come 2015.

“If General Buhari declares today, that is where our people would go. Who else would run against him in the north? Who else do you think the party would prefer to a man who single-handedly secured 11 million votes despite the rigging machinery of the PDP in 2011? General Buhari is the president in waiting, that is the truth,” he concluded.
