Ahead of the 2015 governorship election in Sokoto State, Speaker of the Federal House of Representative, Honourable Aminu Tambuwal has said that he was still consulting with his people over his ambition to vie for the governorship seat in the state.
Waziri Tambuwal, is set to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress “in a matter of weeks” according to multiple sources.
This, according to sources, is in preparation for the 2015 presidential election. He will defect to the APC just in time to express interest in the presidential ticket of the opposition party, a member of the house of reps told TheCable on Sunday.
Parties are scheduled to hold their presidential conventions in October, going by the timetable for the 2015 elections drawn up by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Tambuwal was asked if he was going to defect to the APC, he replied in Hausa: “Kowa ni tsuntsu kukan gidan su yake yi.” Interpreted, it means “birds of the same feather flock together”. He also said Nigeria can do “with good leadership”.
Tambuwal who gave the hints himself of his defection at his hometown in Sokoto State at the weekend, where he collected the Permanent Voters Card (PVC), said that Nigerians would know about his decision after his consultation with the people.
He, however, urged Nigerians to assist him with prayers, so as to arrive at a good decision ahead 2015 general election.
While speaking on the security situation in Nigeria, the Speaker said Nigerian security operatives were trying their best, but needed more sophisticated weapons, adequate logistics and welfare to enhance their performance.
Nigerians, he said, should endeavor to always give adequate information to the security agents to enable them fish out insurgents that may be living among the people.
Tambuwal also called on politicians to stop playing politics of religion and put the nation first in anything they do.
