Manchester City Close In On Deal For French Defender

French defender, Eliaquim Mangala is close to completing a switch from Portuguese side, Porto to English Premier League giants, Manchester City.

City coach, Manuel Pellegrini hinted at a move for the defender after watching his side lose 0-3 to Arsenal in Sunday’s FA Community Shield match

Speaking to BT Sport about the highly rated French player, he said:

“Some papers are maybe missing but we continue having interest in the player, he wants to come so we will see what happens in the week.”

He also mentioned Mangala as one of his summer acquisitions while speaking earlier:

“We have a very strong squad.”

“The players that we have brought in – Fernando, Caballero, Sagna and Mangala – will help the team and will make us stronger defending but I hope we continue to be strong offensively. I’m happy with the squad.”
