Barcelona FC has a new captain in the person of Xavi Hernandez who announced his retirement from international football days back. He will succeed his former national teammate, Carles Puyol who retired from active football this summer.
The 34-year-old will have Spanish international, Andres Iniesta deputizing for him. Xavi has been ever-present for Barcelona since he made his debut for the Catalan giants in 1998.
He was almost on his way out of Barca this summer but for the timely intervention of new coach, Luis Enrique.
