President Goodluck Jonathan, Tuesday promised that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, will reclaim its mandate from members of the party in Kwara State who defected to the opposition All Progressives Congress.

The President made the declaration at the Presidential Villa when he received a delegation of leaders from Kwara State, led by Bola Shagaya and Lazeez Jimoh, who were on a solidarity visit to the State House.

President Jonathan emphasised that the PDP will not only win at the centre but the state and local levels in the general elections in 2015.

He said: “Let me also join others to express our appreciation for the reception you gave to us when we came for the rally. The rally in Kwara was even bigger than some zonal rallies.

“The state government had wanted to distract the attention of the citizens. They arranged some programmes even within Ilorin and those programmes failed. These things do not happen by chance but because men and women who are here worked very hard to get to that level. So extend our appreciation to those our brothers and sisters and formidable members of our party who are not here.
“You spent your personal money in mobilising our people to get there that day.”

According to the President, the large turn out at the rally has confirmed that Kwara belongs to PDP and that will again be demonstrated come 2015 general elections.
