‘News Of My Resignation Is False And Mischievous’ Okonjo-Iweala

The Minister of Finance and coordinating minster for the Economy, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has said stories that she has tendered her resignation to president Goodluck Jonathan is not true.

An online newspaper, THEWILL had reported that the minister tendered her letter of resignation to President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan on Tuesday, February 18, 2014, following the controversy surrounding funds accrued from the sale of crude oil.

The report alleged that her resignation was not accepted by President Jonathan, who assured her that heated matter would be resolved soonest.

A statement issued by Paul Nwabuikwu, Special Adviser to the Minister, the story circulating online about the purported resignation of the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala is false.

He said for the avoidance of doubt, this story is not true.

“The Finance Minister is still in place and assures Nigerians that all will be done to ensure that macro-economic stability is maintained through tight fiscal and Monetary policies.” He concluded.
