The Adamawa Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is currently not having a smooth ride as one would have expected with the defection of the state Governor Murtala Nyako.
Our sources from Adamawa state say Brigadier General Buba Marwa, of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, and Mr Markus Gundiri of Action Congress of Nigeria ACN are currently in a political marriage of convenience as the two have united not to allow the state governor control the state chapter of the party.
Recall that the national leadership of the APC as part of it’s power sharing deal, did ask the rebel governors that left the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to take over the control of the state structures.
Brigadier General Marwa and Gundriri were about to hold a news conference Sunday to inform the leadership of APC that they would not allow Governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa state to take over the structure of the party as the leader.
Well it appears that the interim National leadership of All Progressives Congress, headed by Chief Bisi Akande has halted an anticipated Press conference in Yola convened by the two former gubernatorial aspirants and their supporters.
Journalists who were already at the venue of the Press Conference expecting the organisers to give reasons for convening the conference were stunned when the news reached them that the national leadership of APC has instructed the two aligning groups not to go ahead with the press conference.
Our source said, “Marwa and Gundiri were stopped by the national leadership of the party not to go ahead with the press conference.”
What will become of Adamawa APC in the weeks ahead to the 2015 elections, only time will tell as the Adamawa APC isn’t the only chapter currently in a leadership tussle. The Gombe state chapter of the party is currently tears the newly merged political party apart.
