The Government of Borno has moved to dispel rumours that Bama, the second city in the State behind Maiduguri has been fully taken over by Boko Haram.
The Sect was reported to have launched a full scale attack on the town on Tuesday after earlier attempts were repelled by the Military.
However, the Borno state Government has maintained that Bama has not fallen into the hands of the Boko Haram sect. the Government also gave assurances that the Nigeria Military were on top of the matter. The Deputy Governor of the State made this known in an interview on Channels Television.
The latest onslaught on Bama is regarded in security circles as another attempt by the Boko Haram insurgents to add the region to its earlier taken territory like Gwoza town, which the sect has reportedly declared as part of an Islamic caliphate and hoisted its flag.
