Prof. Florence Obi, The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Calabar, has made the case for the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) to increase its presence in the institution by carryout more projects.

The first female vice-chancellor of UNICAL held that there is a need for TETFUND to step in since the university, that broke off from the University of Nsukka in 1975, is grappling with infrastructural challenges.

She made the call on Monday, 11th December, 2020 in Calabar the Cross River State capital, when officials of the fund paid her a working visit

She added that her administration will continue to engage with the TETFUND to ensure a closer and more robust relationship.

The vice-chancellor noted that with the visit of the TETFUND officials, the university would be guided on the path of best practices, pointing out that the interactive process would be a learning curve which the institution would benefit from.

On their part, Oye Abdul-Rasheed, the Leader of the TETFUND team said that they were in the university to carry an assessment exercise on past and ongoing projects in the school.

He said the exercise, which would cover projects executed from 2012 to date, would be devoid of witch-hunt but rather aimed at propagating knowledgeable, effective and sound mode of TETFUND operations.
