Gunmen Kill Three Fulani Herdsmen in Southern Kaduna

Gunmen reportedly killed three Fulani herdsmen at Unguwan Maiyashi village, Fantsuwam Chiefdom, in Jema’a Local Government and   Madakiya community in Zangon Kataf LGA, all in southern part of Kaduna State.

According to Punch Newspaper, it was gathered that the incident at  Ungwar Miayasihi, took place  at about 4pm on Saturday when the herdsmen were grazing their cattle inside a bush.

It was learnt  that their corpses were later traced to a river by  security agencies on Sunday.

When contacted for confirmation, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Aliyu Usman, ASP,  said some suspects had been arrested  in connection with the incident.

Usman added that more policemen had been deployed  in the area to avert any form of reprisal or break down of law and order.

The spokesman said the suspects would be charged to court as soon as investigations were  completed.

Meanwhile, while reacting to the incident, the umbrella body of the fulani, the Miyetti  Allah  Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria  National and Kaduna State chapter have  condemned  the recent killing of two Fulani youths who were grazing their cows by youths from Unguwan Yashi, Fantsuwam chiefdom  of Jemaa LGA on Saturday.

They gave the names of those killed as Anas Shuaibu (20)   and Yahaya Musa (14).

In a statement signed by Assistant National Secretary, Ibrahim Abdullah and Haruna Usman, the state (Kaduna) chairman, they noted that the association  condemned the cowardly attacks and called on the security agencies to fish out the culprits.

It said, “The association wishes to commend the efforts of the youth leader of the community who supported the security agencies in fishing out the suspected killers and called on the Fulani to exercise restraint and remain law abiding as the relevant authorities are working round the clock to ensure that justice is done.

“The association called on the media to always report these aggressions rather than reporting only one side. We observed that when Fulani’s are attacked the press will be silent but when there is reprisal or retaliation it is blown out of proportion thus portraying the aggrieved as the aggressors.”

Meanwhile, three armed robbers were killed on Sunday morning after a gun battle with the men of the vigilante group between Agbede and Oshokoshoko Road in Kogi State.

The armed robbers, who wore masks, blocked the Agbede and Oshokoshoko Road between 12 midnight and 1 am on Sunday and robbed passengers of their belongings.

An eyewitness, who was also a victim, told newsmen that their vehicle ran into the three armed robbers, who robbed them and other travellers of their possessions.

It was further gathered that the vigilante men who were not far from the scene confronted the robbers in a gun battle.

The source added that all the three armed robbers were killed by the Vigilante men before the arrival of the men of the Special Anti- robbery Squad to the scene.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the Kogi State Police Command, Mr. Williams Ayah, while confirming the story, said the three armed robbers were killed during the operation.

According to him, the District Police Officer of Kabba Police Division, said he received a distress call and immediately deployed his men to the crime scene

Ayah explained that the policemen combed the bush and discovered the bodies of the dead robbers, who had been killed by the men of the vigilante group.

He said that their bodies had since been delivered to the Area Command Office of Nigeria Police Force in Kabba.
