NSE Market Capitalisation Depreciates By N75bn

The market capitalisation of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) depreciated by N75 billion or 0.56 per cent on Monday as major stocks recorded price loss.

The News Agency of Nigerian (NAN) reports that the market capitalisation closed lower at N13.289 trillion from the N13.364 trillion recorded on Jan. 17.

The All-Share Index, which opened at 41,751.55, dropped by 280.27 points to close at 41,471.28.

Nestle led the losers’ chart by N9.95 to close at N1, 155.05 per share.

It was followed by Dangote Cement which depreciated by N4.98 to close at N225.02, while Guinness lost N2.30 to close at N235.50 per share.

UACN shares dipped by N1 to close at N69, while PZ Cussons fell by 60k to close at N37.55 per share.

On the other hand, Oando led the gainers’ chart by N1.10 to close at N26.70 per share.

Nigerian Breweries and International Breweries gained N1 each to close at N166.20 and N30 per share respectively.

Betaglas appreciated by 80k to close at N16.83, while Uac-Prop chalked up 46k to close at N21 per share.

NEM emerged as the most traded stock, accounting for 35.42 million shares worth N28.44 million in 61 deals.

UBCAP exchanged 29.54 million shares valued at N70.38 million in 197 deals, while Transcorp sold 29.06 million shares worth N120.09 million in 201 deals.

In all, the volume of shares traded dropped by 33.34 per cent as 308.713 million shares worth N4.53 billion were exchanged in 5,530 deals.

This was against the 463.088 million shares valued at N4.370 billion traded in 5,825 deals on Friday.
