Chief Emuoboh Gbagi is a Nigerian politician, businessman, and public servant, widely regarded as the eldest son of the late Olorogun (Barr.) Kenneth Gbagi, former Minister of State for Education in the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Born in June 1985, Chief Emuoboh hails from Oginibo in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State. His upbringing was shaped by rich cultural roots in Nigeria and significant exposure to Western ideals through frequent travels to the United States.
Education
His early education began at Greensprings Primary School in Lagos, followed by Atlantic Hall Secondary School, also in Lagos. He later moved to the United States, where he completed his secondary education at Munster High School in Indiana. Chief Emuoboh initially enrolled at Purdue University, USA, before transferring to Novena University in Ogume, Delta State, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.
Career
Chief Emuoboh Gbagi’s professional journey is a testament to resilience and entrepreneurial vision. Despite his privileged background, he began his working life in the U.S. with modest jobs—working at a car wash in 2002, then as a sales clerk at KFC in 2004, and later as a lab attendant while studying at Purdue. These early experiences laid the foundation for his strong work ethic and business acumen.
In 2007, he established Fours USA, a company specializing in the buying, shipping, and clearing of vehicles for clients around the world. He also managed real estate under the GKO Properties Group. Upon returning to Nigeria in 2009, he assumed the role of Managing Director of the GKO Properties Group, overseeing operations in the hospitality sector, including the renowned Signatious Hotel in Warri, Delta State.
Further expanding his entrepreneurial footprint, Chief Emuoboh founded Blue Delta Integrated Services Ltd, an advertising and digital signage firm. The company rapidly grew into the Blue Delta Group, a multifaceted conglomerate with interests across several industries:
- Exquisite Cuts – a chain of upscale men’s grooming salons
- Blue Delta Schools Ltd – a globally benchmarked educational institution in Warri
- Symptoms Pharmaceutical Ltd – a retail pharmacy chain
- Blue Delta Petroleum Resources Ltd – servicing Nigeria’s oil and gas industry
He currently serves as the Chairman of GKO Group of Companies, a diversified global enterprise with operations spanning hospitality, real estate, construction, security, investment, energy, and petroleum sectors.
Chief Emuoboh Gbagi’s foray into politics was driven by a passion to apply development-centric ideas from the global stage to local governance. A member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), he served as a delegate for Jeremi Ward 2 in Ughelli South Local Government Area during the 2014 and 2018 elections. He played a pivotal role in youth mobilization efforts during the 2015 general elections in Delta State.
Although his 2018 campaign for a seat in the Delta State House of Assembly was unsuccessful, Chief Emuoboh went on to hold several significant roles in the Delta State Government:
- Executive Assistant to the Governor on DESOPADEC (October 2015 – August 2018)
- Special Adviser to the Governor on DESOPADEC (October 2018 – May 2019)
- Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth Development (served two consecutive terms)
- Secretary of the College of Special Advisers (July 2021 – May 2023, under Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s administration)
