Why I resigned my PDP membership — Emeka Ihedioha

The former governor of Imo state, Emeka Ihedioha, has resigned as a member of Nigeria’s opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The ex-deputy speaker in his resignation letter noted his decision was because the party in recent times “has taken a path that is at variance with my personal beliefs. Despite my attempt to offer counsel, the party is, sadly no longer able to carry out internal reforms, enforce its own rules or offer credible opposition to the ruling All Progressive Congress”.

While noting the “decision was difficult to take, I, however, believe that it is the right one”.

He however stated he will always be available to the party to offer his services towards the deepening of democracy and good governance in Nigeria.
