Who is Seyi Vibez?

Seyi Vibez Biography

Seyi Vibez is a fast-rising Nigerian Afrobeat musician. His real name is Balogun Afolabi Oluwaloseyi. 

Age and Date of Birth

There has been quite a discrepancy in the age and date of birth of Seyi Vibez. Some reports claimed he was born on July 12, 1990; while others claimed he was born on July 12, 2000.

Going by the two different dates of birth, Seyi should be either  33 years old or 23 years old.

Tribe

Seyi Vibez was born in Ketu area of Lagos state, Nigeria, but grew up in Ikorodu area of the state. He usually regards himself as “Ikorodu Boy”.

Parents and family

Seyi Vibez lost his mother on March 16, 2023. He has also lost his sister, Mariam.

Education

The singer attended As-Sodiq Primary School, Lagos state for his Primary School education. He later proceeded to Skylight Secondary School, Agric, Ikorodu, for his secondary school education. 

Seyi Vibez had his tertiary education at the Lagos State University, where he studied Sociology.

Relationship

There is currently no report of Seyi Vibez being involved in any romantic relationship. Therefore, we assume he is still single.

Career

Seyi Vibez started singing at the age of 14. In an interview, he said, “music is all I wanted to do with my life. I’ve always had that passion in me, and, thankfully, people around me realized it and nourished it.”

Since he started singing at the age of 14, it is tough to pinpoint his first song. However, he ame into the Nigerian music industry in 2019 when he debuted with his single “Anybody”. 

Seyi Vibez came into the limelight in 2021 after his single “Godsent” went viral.

His single “Chance (Na Ham)” from his second studio album Billion Dollar Baby debuted at No. 19 on the UK Afrobeats singles chart and peaked at number 7 on the TurnTable Top 100 chart.

Music style

Although Seyi Vibez music genre is generally classified as Afrobeat, the singer claimed his music style is a “mixture of a lot of things”.

His sound includes “some Fela Kuti vibe, some Islamic vibe, some celestial thing.

Seyi Vibez further revealed that his sound is original as he isn’t trying to be like anyone else.

“I’m not trying to sound like no one, it’s just pure me. The way I sing from way back, I also know how to put it on fast beats, so everything’s just going.”

Record label

Seyi Vibez is currently an independent artiste. He was, however, signed to a Record label at the age of 17 but was later dropped.

The “Chance” crooner in May 2023 said the reason many were unhappy with his success was because; “they thought I wouldn’t get to this point alone But GOD surprise dem. E Dey make dem vex.”

Seyi Vibez and Zinoleesky feud

In June 2023, Seyi Vibez and Zinoleesky were involved in a feud about who is more successful.

The feud started with Zinoleesky advising Seyi Vibez to revert to his previous musical style and also suggesting improvements for his studio. Seyi Vibez, in response, urged Zinoleesky to refrain from speaking until he could afford a new house, alluding to Zinoleesky’s recent purchase of a new property.
