Layiwasabi said in an interview that; “I always knew that I wanted to do comedy, from school I had always been the class clown so I knew that this is what I’d do at the end of the day. When I told my class teacher that I wanted to be a comedian, she said ‘What is funny?’”

Layi started making skits in 2020, and his popularity has grown rapidly since then.

“I think I started to do that lawyer character more because the persona is not just scripting, I’ve now become that guy lowkey.” Layi said.

Following attempts by Ekiti chef, Chef Dammy to break the Guinness World Record (GWR) for a Cook-A-Thon set by Akwa Ibom chef, Hilda Baci, the comedian who was not satisfied the young lady (Chef Dami) was after the record after it was only set by Hilda only a few weeks took to his X(formerly Twitter) page to post;

“If your brand no fit talk am, My own brand fit Hence, If this attempt will take away the record away from you, God will make her fail!”

He, however, apologized after he was criticized by netizens about his comment.

“No matter how I felt yesterday, It was very wrong to have wished Damilola failure – “dreams are unique to each individual”. I publicly apologize to her and everyone I let down with such outrage. I believe we are all God’s children and God blesses all.”
