The Nigerian general elections held on February 25, 2023, resulted in surprises and intrigues. Some incumbent governors, however, won their senatorial bids.

David Umahi (APC)
The incumbent governor of Ebonyi state, David Umahi, was declared the winner of Ebonyi South senatorial position following the February 25, 2023, general elections.
Declaring the result in Afikpo, headquarters of the zone, Prof. Augustine Ogugua Egwu of Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu Alike Ikwo, the returning officer announced that Umahi polled 28, 378 votes to defeat his closest rival, Linus Okorie of the Labour Party, who scored 25, 496 votes.
The incumbent Senator, Michael Nnachi of the Peoples Democratic Party, scored 11, 398 votes.

Abubakar Sani-Bello
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared the incumbent governor of Niger state, Abubakar Sani-Bello, as the winner of the Niger South seat at the National Assembly.
INEC Returning Officer, Kolo Zacchaeus, announced the result on Monday in Kontangora.
Zacchaeus said that Sani-Bello scored 100,197 votes to defeat his closest opponent of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP; Shehu Abdullahi who scored 88,153 votes.
He said that Wali Ibrahim of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, scored 13,886 votes, while Sani Sule of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, got 2,747 votes and Musa Yakubu of ADC scored 636 votes.
He said that Buhari Haruna of Peoples Redemption Party, PRP, scored 1,597 votes, while Ibrahim Muhammad of National Rescue Movement, NRM, scored 307 votes. Adamu Tainmu of Action Democratic Party, ADP, got 515 votes.
He said that Sama’ila Yahaya of Social Democratic Party, SDP, scored 169 votes, while Yamaha John of Zenith Labour Party, ZLP, got 937 votes and Mohammed Usman of Accord Party scored 220 votes.
