Buhari sends delegation to Dutse for emir’s burial

President Muhammadu Buhari said the demise of Nuhu Sanusi, the first-class traditional ruler of Dutse, the capital city of Jigawa, had deprived the nation of a formidable agent of development.

Garba Shehu, the President’s spokesman in a statement, said Mr Buhari stated this in a message to the Dutse Emirate Council at the burial of the late emir delivered by a government delegation, on Wednesday in Dutse, Jigawa.

According to the president, the nation will never forget the late emir’s excellent leadership qualities and outstanding service in his 28-year reign.

The presidential message, which was delivered by the Minister of Water Resources, Sulaiman Adamu, reiterated the role of the late emir in the global quest for a sustainable living environment.

He noted that the late emir left behind a mark as a recognised leader in re-forestation and the restoration of the green ecosystem.

Mr Buhari condoled with the grieving family members, the Dutse Emirate Council and the entire people of the state, while he urged them to sustain the worthy causes championed by the late Emir.

The delegation which included the minister of Power, Aliyu Abubakar, the minister of State, Works and Housing, Umar El-Yakub and the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, was first allowed a view of the corpse to offer prayers before its interment.

The Presidential Protocol Liaison Officer, Shehu Bello, was also part of the delegation

The Galadiman Dutse, Basiru Sunusi, who is an older brother of the deceased and Gaji Sunusi, senior wife of the late Emir said they were pleased with the president for identifying with the family at their difficult moment.

Gov. Abubakar Badaru, the Emir of Hadejia, Adamu Maje, who is the chairman of the State’s Council of Traditional Rulers and the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar III, received the presidential delegation.

They thanked the president for honouring the people of the State at their moment of grief.

They also prayed for the repose of the soul of the late Emir and for a peaceful election leading to a successful transition of power by the president to his successor.
