Chude, real name – Ifechukwude Osanedum Jideonwo, is a lawyer, award-winning journalist, and media entrepreneur from Nigeria. 

He was born on March 16, 1985, to Ifeanyi S. and Ngozi A. Jideonwo in Lagos, Nigeria.

Chude is a leading authority on new/social media and youth culture. Above all, he has worked as a development expert across the continent, primarily with The Future Project, which has reached millions of Nigerians, especially young people.

Education

He had his elementary education at K. Kotun Memorial Primary School before proceeding to Mayflower School in Ikenne and Adebola Baptist High School for his secondary education.

He then proceeded to the University of Lagos for a degree in Law. He also obtained a master’s degree in communication and media studies at the Pan-African University in Lagos.

Additionally, Chude possesses several other degrees from the University of Oxford, Strathmore Business School (SBS), Lagos Business School, and Said Business School.

Career

Chude began his career as an NTA TV host. Later, he worked as a researcher for the nationally syndicated TV shows Celebrating Jesus (MBI) and Inside Out with Agatha, both of which starred Agatha Amata.

He met Adebola Williams around this time, with whom he eventually co-founded Red Africa. He spent three years working for the NTA Network’s New Dawn, where he rose to the position of Associate Producer and oversaw the Special Projects division.

Among the shows he has written, directed, or hosted are The Academy, Patito’s Gang, Video 10, Big Brother Nigeria in 2006, and Moments with Mo (MNet).

He regularly works as an event compere and hosts the Channels Television conversation show Rubbin’ Minds.

He hosts #WithChude, a network of media products spanning TV, radio, podcasts, newsletters, and blogs, and he tells stories to empower and strengthen the mind, heart, and soul. The weekly interviews are broadcast globally on Channels TV, Rave TV, and WaZoBia Max, and are also available on terrestrial television, GOTV, StarTimes, DSTV platforms, and social media platforms.

Guests on the show include political, governmental, and cultural leaders, as well as ordinary people who do not consider themselves famous.

The program consistently draws attention to significant issues and sparks national discussions on the topics it covers. In March 2022, Kemi Afolabi discussed her experience with lupus on the hashtag #WithChude.

In addition to being the founder of Joy, Inc., Jideonwo is also the co-founder of RED, a full-service media content, communication, and development company that has worked with numerous domestic and foreign clients. He first got to know Red’s co-founder, Adebola Williams, when he was a production assistant with Agatha Amata on the Inside Out set.

Joy Inc., is a teaching and media organization, that was registered as a benefit corporation to mainstream the research and data on human flourishing and to develop a new generation of Africans dedicated to maximizing happiness for the most significant number of people.

RED’s brands include The Future Awards Africa, Red Media Africa, StateCraft, Inc., and YNaija, to name a few. Along with major corporations like Microsoft, Google, the British Council, and the US government, the company has also offered consulting services.

It successfully ran the campaigns for two Nigerian presidents in a row. Through Red’s government communication company, Statecraft Inc., Jideonwo managed Muhammadu Buhari’s 2015 campaign.

In 2016, when Nana Akufo-Addo, a candidate who had previously lost three elections for president of Ghana, won, StateCraft Inc. served as the campaign’s communications director.

Jideonwo has written and edited more than 15 books, both domestically and internationally. In July 2009, he started working as a copy editor for the now-defunct NEXT Newspapers, where he eventually advanced to the position of an editorial board member.

He ran a “Sons and Daughters” column in The Guardian’s Sunday edition for three years, featuring profiles of famous and affluent people’s offspring.
